Real kicks for the first time today... well, maybe not the first time, but the first time that I was paying attention enough to realize that that's really what it was. Not too long after lunch... and just above my belly button! Earlier in the day had some weird pushing type feelings down low. Things are really starting to grow now!

So, after posting that, I went and checked out my journal to see that it had nearly been a month without a post. So, I guess I should update a little on baby progress.

We had a 15 week appointment on June 20 and got my first "exteral" ultrasound. The baby was moving around a lot - kicking at the tech and wouldn't cooperate on divulging it's gender. Maybe next time. But, there were a couple of good shots. The one picture that we got to take home is pretty "skeletal" - but the baby has a big belly and head and little arms, legs, fingers and toes. There was one moment where we saw it from the side that was really cute. It moved it's arms in front of its face, like it was wiping its eyes. Very cute.

We had blood drawn for the triple screen and haven't heard anything. So, I assume that everything came back within normal parameters. Otherwise, they'd need to get me in there for another blood draw before week 18 is up - and that's before my next appointment on July 18.

Today is 16 weeks, 4 days.

I haven't written in a long time. I'll need to update soon. But, in the meantime.... during the past couple weeks or so, I've been having "goldfish" sorts of baby movement feelings. It's especially evident within 10 minutes or so of eating something high in sugar.

There's a lot more that I could talk about... Had a big fight with Rocko, made up... John was ready to leave me over it, and my ease at blowing up over very minor issues. I resolved to better control my temper and myself and we're fine again. Yesterday and today I have a horrible headache. On Sunday morning, I puked on the way to breakfast as I had taken my vitamin and my stomach just doesn't like them without some other food. It was mostly water (and a partly dissolved vitamin) but still not fun. Especially since John didn't believe that I was really that sick and kept badgering me about it "all being in my head" and then of course I puked... HA!

I don't know... things have just been pretty tough the past few weeks. And now... here I am in my second trimester and having a tougher time eating healthy than I was in my first trimester. No protein items sound good. A nice, toasty bagel sounds good. UGH!

I wish this headache would go away.
